What is Travertine?
Travertine is a premium, 100% natural stone. It is a type of limestone that forms near natural hot springs. Over thousands of years, the moving water creates beautiful patterns and small, unique holes in the stone.
In Australia, people love using travertine to connect their indoor spaces with their outdoor areas. It looks beautiful, lasts a lifetime, and brings a high-end, natural feel to any home.
Why choose travertine?
- It stays cool in summer: Travertine does not absorb heat like concrete or brick. It stays surprisingly cool under your feet, even on hot summer days. This makes it the perfect choice for pool areas and backyard patios.
- It is incredibly strong: This stone is tough enough to last for generations. In fact, it was used to build the ancient Roman Colosseum, which is still standing today!
- It gets better with age: Over time, travertine develops a natural charm and personality that makes it look even better as the years go by.
Choose your style and finish
We offer travertine in different finishes depending on where you want to place it in your home:
- For outdoors (Unfilled): We leave the natural holes open. This gives the stone a rustic look and a rougher surface, making it safe and non-slip around pools and gardens.
- For indoors (Filled): We fill the natural holes with a smooth mix to create a flat, even floor. This makes it beautiful and very easy to mop inside the house.
- For a modern look (French Pattern): Instead of standard square tiles, this style uses a mix of four different sizes laid out together. It creates a relaxed, premium look that is perfect for coastal and modern homes.
Choose your color
Every piece of natural stone is one-of-a-kind. We offer five easy-to-match colors:
- Ivory: A bright, creamy white that makes homes feel light, open, and airy.
- Beige: A warm, sandy color. It is great for busy families because it easily hides dust and dirt.
- Silver-Grey: A modern blend of cool greys. Very popular for sleek, contemporary designs.
- Walnut: A medium brown with rich patterns. Perfect for traditional gardens and pathways.
- Mocha: Our darkest chocolate brown. It looks stunning next to green grass or wooden decks.

How to clean and look after it
Taking care of travertine is easy if you follow a few simple rules:
- Seal it every 1 to 2 years
Travertine has tiny natural pores that can absorb liquids. Applying a protective liquid sealer keeps stains out.
- The water test: Drop a little water on the stone. If it sits on top like a bead, the stone is protected. If it soaks in and darkens the stone, it is time to reseal it.
- Basic daily cleaning
- Sweep up sand: Sweep up dirt and sand regularly. Walking on gritty sand can scratch the stone over time.
- Use mild soap: Only use gentle, pH-neutral cleaners made for natural stone.
- Clean spills fast: Things like red wine, coffee, and lemon juice can stain or dull the stone. Soak up spills immediately with a paper towel—do not wipe them, as wiping spreads the liquid.
- What to strictly avoid
Important Warnings:
- NO Vinegar or Bleach: Acidic cleaners will permanently damage and burn the stone, leaving ugly white dull spots.
- NO Scratchy Pads: Never use steel wool or harsh scrubbing brushes, or you will scratch the surface.
- NO High-Pressure Washers: Extreme water pressure can blast open the natural holes, making the stone much harder to clean in the future.
